Visit a Wind Farm
If you would like to visit a wind farm, you can visit Bord Na Móna’s Mount Lucas Wind Farm and SSE Renewables’ Galway Wind Park. Read on for more details.
Bord na Móna facilitate tours of our Mountlucas Wind Farm. You can meet a member of our Mountlucas Wind Farm staff by appointment and they will provide you with a personal tour of the site. Group bookings also welcome. To book a tour please contact Catherine on 087-1175756.
Alternatively, if you don't want to take part in a tour you can visit the wind farm yourself. Our 10km public walkway/cycleway is open seven days a week. On-site parking facilities are available on both the R402 (Edenderry to Daingean road) and the R400 (Mount Lucas to Portarlington road). All tours and access to the walkway/cycleway are free of charge.

Another example is SSE Renewables Galway Wind Way, a range of recreational trails at Galway Wind Park. The 48km of trails across six distinct routes through the wind farm include a wheelchair accessible route and take you through the heart of Connemara. While exploring the routes, walkers can learn how the landscape of the Cloosh Valley has changed over hundreds of years.
